We are grateful to the Service Club of Chicago for enabling us to clean and repair one of the 1901 Frederic Clay Bartlett murals in our sanctuary. During restoration the team at PARMA Conservation found several areas where someone had tried to repair and painted over Bartlett’s work. After removing the top layer of paint, the team determined Bartlett used stencils to create symmetrical reflections of the angels and other shapes such as pomegranates. This was only known thanks to the Service Club’s efforts and we can say the transformation is stunning. Thank you.
